Wolfgang sandreuter from sommerach took two places among the top ten at the german summer biathlon championships in bayerisch eisenstein. A total of 176 adults from 17 state associations competed in the air rifle events in the sprint, mass start and relay disciplines at the arber-hohenzollern ski stadium.
After good placements at the bavarian title fights, sandreuter traveled optimistically to the competitions. With an eighth place among 16 starters in the competition "air rifle sprint" in the age class IV (61 years and older) with a lying and a standing sliding position on each of five folding targets and three running rounds of 1000 meters each, he showed himself very satisfied. Because especially the running course with various gradients of up to 25 percent challenges the athletes to their performance limit.
At the mass start, in which the competitors had to complete four sliding positions (two lying and two standing) and five running laps of 1,000 meters each on the very demanding course, the 67-year-old achieved an even better placing on the next day with only three sliding faults out of 20 shots to be fired, taking sixth place among 14 participants. With zero misses in prone shooting at the ten-meter target area of 15 millimeters in diameter and only three misses in standing shooting at a target area of 35 millimeters, wolfgang sandreuter achieved a hit rate of 85 percent, the best shooting result in his age group.
